COVID-19 POLICY

Keeping you safe.

Policy Summary
MNR Electric’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Policy includes the measures we are actively taking to mitigate the spread of coronavirus in our office and on job sites. You are kindly requested to follow all these guidelines diligently and with attention to detail, in order to maintain a healthy and safe workplace for both our employees and clients in this volatile environment.  The guidelines and policies laid out in this document are MANDATORY.  It’s extremely important that we all respond responsibly and transparently to these health precautions. We assure you that we will always treat your private health and personal data with the utmost in confidentiality and sensitivity as per our privacy policy, which can be viewed on our website.

When health and safety measures mandated by Health Canada Authorities including AHS, and the Federal Health Authority exceed our own policies put in place, the greater preventative measure is to be followed. Any questions or concerns are to be directed to management immediately. This policy will evolve accordingly with updates from Health Canada.

Scope
This coronavirus policy applies to all of our employees, who either physically work in our office(s) or on one or more of our many job sites.

Policy Outline
Here, we outline the required actions employees should take to protect themselves and their co- workers from a potential coronavirus infection.

  1. Sick leave arrangements:
  • If you have cold symptoms, such as cough/sneezing/fever, or feel poorly, stay home. Please take the AHS self-assessment at https://www.alberta.ca/covid19 and act according to AHS recommendations.
  • If you have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, you can return to the office only after you’ve fully recovered, with a doctor’s note confirming your recovery.
  1. Travelling/commuting measures:
  • All fly in work trips will be cancelled/postponed until further notice.
  • In-person meetings should be done virtually where possible.
  • If you normally commute to the office by public transportation, please find an alternate method to get to work.
  • If you are planning to travel voluntarily to a high-risk country with COVID-19 cases, we’ll ask you to self-quarantine and get tested. You will also be asked not to come into physical contact with any colleagues during this time.
  1. General hygiene rules:
  • Wash your hands after using the toilet, before eating, and if you cough/sneeze into your hands (follow the 20-second hand-washing rule). You can also use the sanitizers you’ll find around the office or on job sites.
  • Cough/sneeze into your sleeve, preferably into your elbow. If you use a tissue, discard it properly and clean/sanitize your hands immediately.
  • Open the windows regularly to ensure open ventilation.
  • Avoid touching your face, particularly eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands to prevent from getting infected.
  • If you find yourself coughing/sneezing on a regular basis, avoid close physical contact with your coworkers and take extra precautionary measures (such as requesting sick leave).
  1. If you or a family member are positive for Coronavirus:

  • Call 811 immediately. After following all directions from AHS, please notify management immediately so reactionary protocols can be implemented including notifications, self-isolations, sanitizing and mitigation efforts, and industry partner notifications.

  1. When entering occupied buildings in close proximity with occupants:
  • MNR Electric works from time to time in occupied buildings, therefore there is hazard associated with potential exposure to infection through residents of these premises. MNR Electric workers will not be permitted into occupied areas without undertaking the following measures:

    • From a safe distance, 3 meters or more, or by phone or text, the following questions are to be asked:

o Are you or any family member experiencing fever, or symptoms of flu or cold?
o Have you or any family member travelled internationally in the last 14 days?
o Do you or your family object to having workers in your presence in full PPE (explain PPE requirements)?
**Please explain to the resident that the PPE is for both theirs and our protection.

If the answer is yes, or the resident prefers not to answer, no access is permitted.

If the answer is no to all, then full PPE will be donned including goggles, N95 or P100 respirator, Tyvek, and gloves. It will be doffed outside the building following standard hygienic protocols.

At any time, a worker may refuse work if a hazard is felt to be present. Please contact management immediately if a problem arises so proper notices and updates can be provided.  A zero-tolerance mandate will be applied to this policy. Failure to adhere with negligence will result in immediate suspension from work activities pending a review of this policy and comprehension testing prior to be allowed to return to duty.
